What digital platforms are students currently using to develop their professional network?

What is clear is that at least the students in this class are using WordPress as a platform to build their own professional networks. In addition to that, from what I know about the people around me, basically, everyone has at least one account on Google, Snapchat, Youtube, etc. They will use these platforms to have fun, exchange information, and learn knowledge.

What could the student consider in expanding their professional learning network?

I think there are quite a few things that need to be taken into account to extend the professional learning network. I will show some of my ideas next.

  1. The core idea of expanding PLN

Students need to think about why they are going to extend. This answer needs to be clear, organized, and simple. All of the students’ subsequent actions need to be centered around this answer. Each action will further elaborate on this core idea, as well as parse it.

2. Find the right environment for you

People are group animals, no matter what they do, they can not do without the help of the group. Therefore, it is vital to know how to find the right environment for yourself. The information on the Internet is too mixed, too much, so we need to find the “circle” to use the benefits of the network more efficiently. A “circle” can be understood as a combination of information that is most helpful to you after being filtered.

In this environment, we need to actively communicate with others, which is the purpose of entering the circle. But some of you may ask, how do I go about communicating with others? Some people may be so shy about it that they are afraid to interact with others. However, we need to know that our personal information is protected and the person we are communicating with will not know who we are or what kind of person we are. So go ahead and speak up and show your purpose. This way, people will keep coming to you to talk to each other and make progress.

How does data privacy and security limit and/or promote a PLN?

The answer I came up with to this question is the law.

The Internet was created by human technological invention, which means that there are people who use this technology specifically illegally to profit themselves. However, the Internet is not a place outside the law. Every country has laws against the Internet. One of the top priorities is to protect personal information to the greatest extent possible.

pros:

  • Security is, without a doubt the number one benefit. There is nothing more important than safety.

cons:

  • The information we see now is restricted. This is because the law exists. There is information that requires additional permission that we need to apply for; there is information that we need to pay to view because laws related to intellectual property rights and such like exist.

In your network, how can you create a digital identity/ reputation?

I think there is only one core answer to this question, and that is clout-chasing.

It’s not weird nowadays that people prefer to go viral on the internet when they have published some posts, tweets, or something else. When some people have more and more web traffic online and more followers, it means their digital identity/reputation is on the rise, and vice versa.

how an employer would respond if you applied for a job with them and they assessed your social media presence via your digital identity.

I think they will first focus on how many followers you have, and secondly browse how many people have viewed and liked your past videos or articles you have published to comprehensively assess your influence on the web. Finally, together with the company, they will evaluate whether the direction of your influence on the web is compatible with the direction the company wants to take.
